Bolt is the website AI assistant I independently designed, built, deployed and tested on my own website. It helps visitors understand my services and check their enquiry details before confirming submission. The workflow then records the enquiry and triggers an email notification for me to review personally.
The business problem
A visitor may have a simple question before they are ready to get in touch. They might want to understand a service, explore whether it suits their business or explain what they need help with.
For the business owner, the next step is easier when that conversation becomes a clear enquiry—with the relevant details together, ready for a personal response.
I built Bolt to support that first conversation without turning every question into a request for contact details.
What the visitor experiences
Ask a question. Visitors can explore my services and workflow examples in a conversation on the website. Bolt uses approved business information to help answer.
Choose to send an enquiry. Visitors can keep exploring or ask me to follow up. A general service question does not automatically submit an enquiry.
Share the essentials. Bolt guides the visitor through their name, email address and what they need help with. Business name and website are optional.
Review before submitting. The visitor sees a summary and can confirm it, correct the details or cancel. Changes require confirmation of the updated summary.
Know what happens next. After submission, Bolt explains the next step. I still review the enquiry personally and decide what happens next.
What the business owner receives
A confirmed enquiry becomes a structured record and triggers an email notification containing the submitted details and request. This gives me a clear starting point for reviewing the enquiry and following up personally.
A daily activity recap brings together website conversation activity, captured enquiries and items needing review, helping me see what needs attention.
How a Visitor Becomes a Confirmed Enquiry
The journey starts with a question. If the visitor chooses to enquire, Bolt helps gather the essentials and presents a summary for review. Once the visitor confirms, the workflow records the enquiry and triggers the notification.
AI handles the conversation, while fixed workflow rules control when an enquiry can be reviewed, confirmed and submitted.
Checks Before an Enquiry Is Sent
Visitor choice comes first. The visitor chooses whether to send an enquiry. Asking a question is not permission to submit one.
Essential details are checked. The workflow checks the information needed for follow-up and asks for missing or unclear details.
The latest summary must be confirmed. Only the details in the current summary can be submitted. If the details change, they need to be reviewed and confirmed again.
Repeated requests are checked; uncertain outcomes need review. Repeat requests are checked against what has already been recorded. Unclear outcomes remain visible for human review instead of being treated as a new confirmed enquiry.
These checks reduce accidental or repeated submissions, but do not replace my personal review.
What was tested
Controlled implementation testing used synthetic details to exercise the enquiry journey.
During the September 20 production test:
- A normal business question did not automatically create an enquiry.
- A visitor could choose to enquire, provide details and review a summary.
- Final confirmation created one notification record.
- Replaying the exact same request did not create another notification.
Separately, during an isolated test, I confirmed receiving a test notification. That was a different test message from the production notification above.
These are controlled implementation results, not customer conversions, sales results or guaranteed future delivery. This is an independently developed system on my own website, not a paid-client case study.
September 30 records also demonstrate business-question replies and conversation reporting. The supplied n8n canvas shows implementation structure, not execution results.
What I Still Handle
Bolt helps visitors ask questions and submit an organised enquiry. I review the request, decide whether the work is suitable, and confirm scope, availability and commercial terms personally.
Submitting an enquiry does not confirm a booking or acceptance of the work.
Behind the experience
A branded welcome. Bolt gives visitors a recognisable point of contact while they explore the website.
Approved business information. The conversation draws on information prepared for my services, so visitors have a place to start when deciding what to ask about.
A controlled enquiry process. Visitors choose to enquire, check the details and confirm before submission.
Organised follow-up. Enquiry details are brought together in a record and email notification so I can review the request personally.
A daily overview. The activity recap helps bring conversations, enquiries and review items into view.
A private backend connection. The website connects to the workflows behind Bolt without placing backend credentials in the public chat configuration.
